Now mind you this place does not accept credit cards so we were informed that we had to walk a block away to a local bar to use an ATM for money.
I have to start by saying the food was good but expensive. Except for the recommended Dill Pickle Soup. This should have been our first red flag about what was to come. The soup had the ingredients of potato soup with pickle juice in. Maybe appealing to the palette of a child, otherwise gross!
The constant draw back to the experience was our waitress Crystal.
She had just an I could not care less attitude! No refills on drinks, no water, no customary "how is everything", once the food was delivered there was nothing.
I had brought an out of town guest for dinner. When we asked her to give us the history of the restaurant she simply ignored our request and walked away.
At the end of the evening my friend and I decided to pay for our own meals and our request to have the checks separate was met with this lazy whining " it's already on one" response and again she simply walked away. When I approached the bar to pay the bill an employee could see I was noticeably upset. What an unfortunate end to what could have been a great meal. There are plenty of places to get good Polish food. This place would never get a second chance in my opinion. I am still stunned at the horrible service! I almost forgot the best part. Another waitress was clearing the table next to ours. The customer decided not to use the To Go container and left it on the table. The waitress, not our lazy gem, puts it under her armpit, grabs dirty plates and carries them to a bus station, deposits them and then grabs the To Go container and puts it back on the stack of other containers!!!!!! WTF!!!! Friends, how jacked up is this place? -

I always try to support local small business, particularly ethnic restaurants. Generally speaking, they need to put in a little TLC in making this something other than a basement dive-bar type restaurant with slightly above mediocre Polish food.
This is a crusty dive-bar type place, in a basement, that has not been cleaned or maintained in 10 years or more.
Food: cross between authentic Polish food and Polish bar food. Generally speaking, it's kind of polish slop food. Some of it is very tasty, some of it is not. They have lots of soups: some of them very tasty, some of them not. You expect dill pickle soup to actually taste of dill pickle. This dill pickle soup does not. It is a bowl of starchy bland slop with some dill pickle pieces in it.
They have multiple different pierogies with different stuffing's; typically, out of many of them.
Don't get me wrong, food wise, it's better than a place next-door, but it's not Quality Polish food, it's kind of slapped together carelessly with some halfway decent flavor.
Having given this place a mediocre review, of the multiple Polish restaurant places in town, this is the better one.
All they need to do is take a little pride, elbow grease in cleaning, and allocate some money to maintenance to be much better -

The food here is incredible and well-priced -- best Polish food I've ever tasted!
I visited with my wife a couple of weeks ago before a show at Ant Hall, and we split plates with the following: pierogi (potato & cheese, sweet cheese, kraut, and jalapeno & cream), pan fried kielbasa, and potato pancakes. I won't even get into reviews of each of them because they were all fantastic -- try them all and I promise you won't be disappointed!
They have a nice little patio on the side, too, which was nice on a beautiful summer evening.
The only reasons I'm not giving this place 5 stars are they don't take credit cards (it's 2019!) and the service is slow. -

Yummy, so darn yummy! Being half Polish, I grew up on this kind of food. Let me tell you, this is the place to go if you like Polish food or want to try it for the first time. It was our first visit. Man, I cannot tell you how good their City Chicken is. You really have to taste it for yourself. The pierogies were perfection! If you go to Hamtramck, you need to stop here. It will be worth the wait.
